Can cats get: The common cold?

Hey, VetKidz! If you have ever wondered if your cat could get a cold, you will find all your answers right here! Before we get learning, please take a moment to pin this to your Cats board.

Can my cat get a cold?

Yes, cats can catch a cold. They can catch colds from 2 things: coming in contact with an infected cat, or coming in contact with cold particles, kind of like how people catch a cold. It's possible that your cat can catch your cold, BUT it depends on what virus you have.

Kitty Cold symptoms

  1. Excessive sneezing
  2. Snot
  3. Discharge from eyes
  4. Painful ulcers or blisters on the nose, eyes or in the mouth
  5. Fever
  6. Loss of appetite
  7. Dehydration
  8. Coughing
  9. Mouth-breathing
  10. Congestion

Preventing cat colds

Keep your cat up to date on injections, and away from cats exhibiting the above symptoms. If your cat does get a cold, take her to your local veterinarian. Cat colds are usually not serious, but they can be if they aren't treated right.
