10 Foods Not to Feed Bunnies

Bunnies! Oh, They are so cute and cuddly and bouncy! All rabbit owners want to do the best they can for them, so today I want to share with all you VetKidz what to never feed your bunny. Before you read on, take a moment to pin this to your bunny board.

  1. Carrots and Parsnips. These are a sometimes food, as they are high in sugar. If you give them too many, it can cause tooth decay, obesity and digestive issues.
  2. Apples. Again, these are an occasional treat for your bunny and they are also high in sugar.
  3. Avocados. Avocados contain a toxin called persin. It is super dangerous for rabbits and many other house pets.
  4. Lettuce. You should not feed your rabbit lettuce because it has lactucarium in it, which may give your bunny diarrhea that can become fatal.
  5. Bread. Bunnies may love bread, but it is high in carbohydrates and starch, which can be fatal.
  6. Muesli. Muesli can increase the risk of developing serious tooth and stomach problems, causing severe suffering.
  7. Milk. Milk is fattening to bunnies, and they are lactose intolerant, so dairy products can give them diarrhea and an upset stomach.
  8. Chocolate. Chocolate is toxic to bunnies because it contains theobromine and methylxanthines.
  9. Rice. Rice can cause seizures in bunnies and has no nutritional value to rabbits.
  10. Yogurt drops. Yogurt drops are not good for bunnies for many reasons, one being that they are dairy products, and dairy is not good for rabbits. It is also bad for their teeth.
I hope this gave you some help on what to not feed your pet bunny.
